I like works, that tell a story. You should add more glossines to the bowl, render with refractions (in reality the width of glass would not be so obvious, because of how the light changes direction when passing from one material trough another. And of course if you used mental ray, than why don`t you turn on caustics?

Hey, I like this, gave me a sort of a laugh. You had the very well rendered squid looking cute in two parts then in the third, it disappeared amongst it's own ink, hehe. I like the rendering on the bowl and everything. You got yourself a nice deviation here.

its funny, the squids well designed too. maybe a touch of refraction? it could look a bit more realistic although its obvious you werent trying to make it realistic.
